100NO 421: Knowing when to go medical vs natural health
Monday Apr 19, 2021
Monday Apr 19, 2021
Damian had a practice member walk in recently who had been advised by a medical practitioner not to see a chiropractor.
For obvious reasons this frustrated Damo and also confused the practice member.
On this episode, we discuss the philosophy of knowing when to see a medical professional and when to see a natural health practitioner.
This is a philosophical decision that sadly many believe is not their right to make.
In this conversation, we maintain that health choices are definitely ours to make.

100NO 420: Imagine a dinner party full of scientists …
Monday Apr 12, 2021
Monday Apr 12, 2021
On this episode we discuss whether we have become so used to saying “where’s the research” or “the evidence” that we’ve lost the art of independent thinking.
We discuss the importance of all factors of life containing an art, a science and a philosophy – and that no one is more important than the other.
With science threatening to overtake the conversation many of us are defaulting to this “dependent” thinking.

100NO 419: We Can All Eat That! Pam Brook on allergies and ageing gracefully
Monday Apr 05, 2021
Monday Apr 05, 2021
Many people today know Pam Brook as the co-founder of Brookfarm …. a family based food company based in Byron Bay, New South Wales. Together with her husband, Martin Brook, she has transformed a rundown, weed-infested dairy farm into a spectacularly beautiful patch of land that follows regenerative farming practices and produces premium nationally recognized macadamia products. She is a great believer in a nutritionally balanced diet and a healthy, sustainable food chain. In a previous career, she worked as a dentist – right near my old stomping ground in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Today – Pam is the author of the new book We Can All Eat That – a book all about raising healthy adventurous eaters and helping to prevent food allergies.

100NO 417: Why some people change and others don’t
Monday Mar 22, 2021
Monday Mar 22, 2021
After eight years of 100 Not out, one could argue we’ve covered all we need to on the subject of gracefully ageing.
But we feel like we’re only just beginning.
The question that so often nags us and keeps us keeping on is the conundrum that some people improve their lives and others don’t.
Why do many diabetics continue to consume sugar? Why do many smokers continue to smoke despite grave warnings? Why do many people continue to work in jobs they hate?
Whilst they all seem counterintuitive, there is a reason – or many reasons. And we discuss them on this episode.

100NO 414: How to avoid being sucked in by the news
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Monday Mar 01, 2021
The news cycle over the last 12 months has become smaller and smaller. Gone are the days of reading the news once a day and feeling up to speed with the goings on of the country or the planet. Today, the news cycle is arguably down to one minute. What you know to be true now will be different in a minute from now. With COVID19 dominating the headlines – a story that never stops – our addiction to news – much of it completely unconscious is having a major impact on the health and happiness of so many.
We discuss all of this and more – and how to be a conscious consumer of the news, on this episode of 100 Not Out.

Today we have a curly conversation about the benefits of organic versus homegrown and local non-organic. In fact, if you haven’t been keeping a close eye on the supermarket shelves, the ingredients Listen In

100NO 411: Reinventing Yourself
Monday Feb 08, 2021
Monday Feb 08, 2021
Most of us don’t like change, let alone reinvention. However, so many of our guests and the most incredibly graceful agers have gone through a reinvention process a number of times over. Damian and Marcus discuss their own reinventions on this episode – Damian as a naturopath becoming a chiropractor and cereal manufacturer. Marcus as a journalist and then a chiropractic business owner and then on to a speaker and mentor. No matter your age, or what area of life, reinvention is not only possible – it is often necessary.
Enjoy!

100NO 410: Rediscovering Our Village Pride
Monday Feb 01, 2021
Monday Feb 01, 2021
Given that we aren’t allowed to leave the country, it seems to us that Australians are falling in love with the country again. With a boom in domestic travel and a currently great COVID position, many of us are travelling to local destinations we have previously never heard of or thought we’d never get to. It’s no longer Bali, New Zealand, Paris, Rome or New York. Now it’s Sydney, Brisbane and any number of regional holiday destinations.
What impact does this have on our health? Perhaps, could we becoming more proud of our surroundings as a result of being around more of them?
We discuss all of this and more on this episode of 100 Not Out.
